Empowerment Rocks Project

So many Wise Women have been feeling the heaviness of this moment in time--the feelings of powerlessness and helplessness can darken our perception of our world.

So… it’s time to spread some light and wisdom, focusing on what we can control! ✨

This month we’re reviving a special project from 2018, when women’s groups expressed their wisdom on rocks to bring a little light back into their lives—and the world.

Join us in a free, creative practice to reconnect with grounding, wisdom, and the power of expressive arts. This invitation is open to anyone ready and willing to play, create, and reflect.

Look at the beautiful rocks created by women's groups this year! I love each one—they collectively form a powerful expression of wisdom and strength.

🎶 Wise Women Playlists

Created in community with Wise Women, these playlists help you explore an emotional state—or gently shift to a new one—through the healing power of music.

(Click the image or here to access the playlist.)

Purpose:

  • Offer a creative, symbolic way to honor inner wisdom.
  • Practice mindfulness for embodiment and grounding.
  • Use visual art, music, and storytelling for reflection and empowerment.
  • Spread wisdom and light in Wise Women's families, circles, and communities.

Supplies:

  • 2 smooth river rocks
  • Paint supplies
    • Acrylic paints (variety of colors)
    • Paint pens (good for detail work or WW with sensory issues)
    • Permanent markers (Sharpies or similar)
    • Paintbrushes (various sizes, including sponge brushes)
    • Water cups & paper towels (for rinsing/cleaning brushes)
    • Table coverings (puppy pads or butcher paper)
    • Gloves (for participants who prefer less tactile contact)
  • Gel medium (Mod Podge for Outdoors or any clear glue)

Instructions:

You can follow these steps—or do your own thing. You’re a grown-ass woman, after all. 💪

Step 1: Ground
Hold a rock in each hand. Notice its weight, texture, and temperature. Let yourself settle into the present moment as you breathe.

Step 2: Music & Movement
Choose a song that feels nourishing for your soul—go to A Space for Wise Women's Playlists and decide which category holds the wisdom you need in this moment (for example, if you’re feeling isolated, try Supporting You, Beautiful Wise Woman). As the music plays, allow your body to move, sway, or simply tap along. Notice and note any words, images, or feelings that come up.

Step 3: Paint Your Wisdom
Using colors, shapes, or words, decorate your rock with the wisdom that came to you through the music. Don’t worry about making it perfect or pretty—this is about self-expression, not perfection.

Step 4: Write the Story
For 5 minutes, free-write about your rock.

Prompt: Imagine your empowerment rock has its own story to tell. Describe what it looks like and how you decorated it. Where did this rock come from before it found you? What experiences has it carried through time? What wisdom, strength, or truth does it hold for you now? Write about the role this rock will play as you move forward—how it will remind you of your power, voice, and resilience. What impact do you hope your second rock will have as it spreads light into your community?

Step 5: Integration
Seal in your wisdom by brushing a coat of gel medium.

Keep your first rock as a daily touchstone of strength.

Place your second rock out in the community, releasing it as a gift of light and encouragement for someone else to discover.

If you want to connect with others in this project, write "Facebook: A Space for Wise Women" on the back of your rock. We hope that those who find it will share their story with us!

Share your own empowerment rock story on A Space for Wise Women’s Facebook page or in our private community space. Check back to see if someone finds your rock and shares how it impacted their life. 🌿
